Plot[]

Nick Wilde is watching a show on TV called Captain Foxtastic. A commercial for an action figure of the titular character is shown, intriguing Nick. He is excited about the possibility of getting the toy, until the price is revealed to be $19.95. Nick doesn't have enough money for the figure, so he decides to make a flyer and go door-to-door offering to do odd jobs for various mammals, only for each of them to slam the door in his face.

He then offers his services at a junkyard. The owner says he'll pay Nick if he can clean up the lot. The fox is stunned, saying the task will take all summer. The owner then says, "And that's if you survive". Nick questions this statement, until he's approached by a gang of tough-looking mammals. The owner quickly runs off, leaving Nick alone to deal with them. They ask who he is, and Nick dodges the question, saying that he was just hired to clean up the lot. The gang leader tells Nick, "This is our turf. Now scram before things get rough".

Nick thinks on his feet and tells the gang he's a professional treasure hunter named "Thadius Smudge", and that the junkyard is rumored to be the resting place of the idol of Ugoddabekiddinme, (a play on the phrase, "You gotta be kidding me"). He claims it's worth a fortune and he just needs to sort through everything to find it. The gang leader orders his group to spread out and look for the idol. Nick watches the gang clean up the lot. Each gang member shows him various objects, asking if it's what they're looking for, to which Nick says it's not. The gang leader shows Nick a bowling trophy and the fox says it's the idol.

Nick goes to the junkyard owner, who presents him with his pay for cleaning the lot. Nick gives a dollar to each gang member for their hard work. The gang leader says they'll take the money, and one member, an elephant, says that it's peanuts compared to what they'll get for the idol. The gang leader presents the bowling trophy to the junkyard owner, who says he'll give him 25 cents for it. Baffled, the gang leader says, "25 cents! You gotta be kidding me!" He realizes the joke name of the "idol", feeling tricked, as Nick is shown at home, playing with his new Captain Foxtastic action figure.
