Role in the Book
While attending school together, Dinah and Judy learn that it is time for the annual county fair. Dinah tries to say that she looks forward to it every time it comes to town, but she takes too long to speak and everyone is gone by the time she finishes her sentence.
The next day, Dinah asks Judy if they can go to the fair together. Initially reluctant and worried about Dinah slowing her down, Judy invites her to come along with her and her Pop-Pop.
When she gets home, Dinah asks her father for permission to go to the fair, but he forbids her to because he doesn't want her hanging around with rabbits. Dinah then sneaks out and goes to the fair by herself.
Meanwhile, at the fair, Judy is disappointed about not being allowed to ride in the fair's hot air balloon. She then sees Dinah sneaking into said balloon and follows her into it. However, the balloon then takes off with them in it.
As they are about to collide into a ferris wheel, Judy decides that the balloon needs to be popped. She does so, and they land, stuck high up in a tree. Dinah thanks Judy for saving her.
Judy then realizes that sloths can climb trees, and has Dinah assist her down to the ground, where their families are waiting for them.
