- ―Dr. Armadillo to Nick Wilde
Dr. Armadillo (pronounced "arma-DEEYO") is a male armadillo from an early version of Zootopia. He is not present in the film.
Physical Appearance
Dr. Armadillo has gray skin, brown eyes, and bushy eyebrows. He wears glasses, as well as a standard doctor uniform under his gray shell.
Role in the Film
In a deleted scene for an early script for Zootopia, Dr. Armadillo meets with his patient, Nick Wilde, who hurt his neck. To examine his neck, Armadillo has to remove Nick's tame collar, which he is quite nervous to do.
After donning a suit of protective armor, he remove's Nick's collar and flinches, expecting Nick to go savage without it.
This doesn't happen, however, and the doctor successfully examines Nick's neck, deeming it only bruised before putting his collar back on. Nick asks the doctor for more time without it, to which the doctor replies, "If I had a dollar for every time someone asked me that." Nick finishes the doctor's sentence, "Then you'd be the richest mammal in Zootopia." This inspires Nick to create Wild Times.
Trivia
- Dr. Armadillo's name was reused for Dharma Armadillo.
- The protective suit he wears bears a strong resemblance to bomb suits used in the real world for explosive ordnance disposal.
