"Magical Mystery Nick" is a comic based on Zootopia. It is featured in the graphic novel Disney Zootopia: Friends to the Rescue. The story takes place in Nick Wilde's childhood.

Plot[]
Nick Wilde is walking in the hallway at school with some of his classmates, who are talking about Hedy's birthday party. A young bear mentions that there will be a magician performing at the party. A sheep boy brags about the present he is going to give her. He asks Nick if he is going to the party, but Nick says he isn't. However, Hedy walks up to Nick to give him his invitation in person. Nick gladly accepts as Hedy says she'll see him and the rest of her guests on Saturday. The Sheep boy says his present is going to be awesome.
On the day of the party, Nick is getting ready to go and checks his piggy bank for money for a present. He is saddened to see that he only has a few cents. Dejectedly, he and the Sheep boy make their way to the party as the latter brags about his gift. Just as he reaches her house, Nick overhears Hedy's mother inform her that the magician for the party has fallen ill and can't make it. Hedy starts to cry and deems the party ruined.
Nick sees a bear carrying groceries in a paper bag and asks him for his help. Soon after, a fox kit, whose identity is disguised with a paper bag over his head, shows up at Hedy's house and performs various tricks for her and the party guests.
The kit's bag then falls off while taking a bow, revealing him to be Nick, who explains that he didn't have enough money to buy her a birthday present, but still wanted to do something special for her. Happy, Hedy declares that Nick's act was the best present of all and the Sheep boy wonders if it is too late to return his own gift, which is revealed to be a book titled "1,001 Baaaaaad Jokes".
