Physical Appearance[]
Manchas is a large, muscular jaguar with spotted black fur that covers his entire body. He has big green eyes, though the right one is badly injured at the time of the film. He normally wears gray pants and a white tank top.
He is shown to be extremely strong and agile, as seen in his chase scene with Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde, performing incredible feats of strength while under the influence of Night howler sickness.
Role in the Film[]
Mr. Big orders Manchas to pick up Emmitt Otterton at the The Mystic Spring Oasis, as the otter wants to meet with him in person about an urgent matter.
While driving Otterton to Tundratown, Manchas overhears a commotion in the back seat; however, before he can investigate further, he is suddenly and viciously attacked by Otterton, who had just become savage. The jaguar manages to escape alive, though his face is badly clawed around his right eye. Manchas informs Mr. Big about the incident and then sequesters at his home, traumatized by what had happened.
While investigating Otterton's disappearance, Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde attempt to talk with Manchas about the Otterton attack. After Manchas mentions that Otterton had spoken of "Night howlers" before he turned savage, Nick suggests that they also have information about Night howlers and they should share what they know. Manchas agrees to let them into his home and begins to unlock the door, but before he can undergo further questioning, he suddenly loses his sanity and becomes savage, apparently falling victim to the same affliction that claimed Otterton. The now feral Manchas attacks Judy and Nick, chasing them out of his home and relentlessly pursuing them through the wet jungle.
During the chase, Judy manages to call for backup before losing her radio. Manchas chases the pair onto a gondola landing. Judy is nearly knocked of the platform and Manchas makes a deadly lunge at Nick which fails by inches because Judy manages to handcuff the jaguar's leg to a pole before they escape. However, when Chief Bogo arrives with the police, Manchas has mysteriously vanished.
Judy and Nick later discover that Manchas has been taken to Cliffside Asylum by wolves, where he, Otterton, and the other missing predators, who have also gone savage, are being held by Mayor Lionheart in an attempt to find a cure, keep them from harming others, and preventing a city-wide panic. After the police raid the asylum and arrest Lionheart for his illegal imprisonment, Manchas and the other savage predators are muzzled and transferred to another hospital, the cause of their strange behavior still a mystery.
It is later revealed that Manchas, Otterton and the other missing predators had been turned savage by a ram named Doug, who secretly darted them all with a psychotropic serum made from Night howler flowers.
Manchas and the other savage predators are eventually cured when an antidote for the Night howlers is created.
Observations[]
Poor Manchas was unfortunately in the wrong place at the wrong time when Mr. Otterton went savage but it does raise the question as to why over 10 days passed and Judy and Nick were at his doorstep before he too was shot and made savage by Doug. One likely answer is that Bellwether wanted to silence him before he passed on too much information. However, the movie reveals that Manchas really didn't have much to share and he had already told Judy and Nick all he knew at the door of his house.
Another possibility is that Manchas going savage was something that Bellwether wanted Judy to see first hand. Up to this point in the film, Bellwether was trying to create a panic that predators were going savage but Mayor Lionheart's team of wolf mercenaries would capture the savage mammal before the situation became public knowledge.
By having Manchas "go savage" right in front of Judy, Bellwether would now have someone to be an official police witness to the predator problem. If Judy survives the encounter, Bellwether would have a living eye witness. If Judy were killed, Bellwether could make sure there would be an official investigation to reveal she was killed by a feral predator. Bellwether could even "suggest" using the traffic cameras as part of the investigation.

Trivia[]
- "Manchas" means "blots" or "smudges" in Spanish, most likely used the latter as Renato's last name for the fact that jaguars have faint black spots. If viewed closely, there is a black spot on Manchas' neck in his concept art that is in the shape of a sideways Mickey mouse ears.
- Despite this, and despite the fact that his voice actor, Jesse Corti, a Venezuelan-American, did his own Spanish dubbing of Lefou in another Disney film, Beauty and the Beast, Corti did not do his own Spanish dubbing as Manchas.
- Manchas was modeled after Bagheera from The Jungle Book.
- Manchas' chase with Judy and Nick is very similar to the Sabor chase in Disney's Tarzan.
- According to The Essential Guide, Manchas likes wet, rainy climates, comfy clothes and Cat Fancy magazine.
