This page contains SPOILERS for new Zootopia media! |
The reptile hangout is a secret speakeasy in Marsh Market that appears in Zootopia 2.
Description[]
The hangout is a large tavern located inside a half-sunken ship which is entered via a doorway protected by the shell of a tortoise bouncer. It is sparsely lit by ceilings lamps with purple lights and heat lamps to keep the reptiles warm. It includes pool tables and a stage, with waiters walking around and serving food as well as drinks. The tavern is staffed and visited solely by reptiles, such as lizards, chameleons, geckos, turtles, and tortoises who come to enjoy themselves without scrutiny from mammals. Sprouting from the top is a giant artificial tree log with lizards and geckos regularly climbing on it.
Role in the Film[]
Nibbles Maplestick brings Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde to the hangout during the latter two's investigation regarding Gary De'Snake. It is later invaded by the Zootopia Police Department, who are looking for Judy and Nick.

Trivia[]
- The hangout bears an aesthetic resemblance to The Court of Miracles hidden in the ancient Parisian catacombs from Disney’s The Hunchback of Notre Dame.
- It also references the Roma, who were hiding in the Court of Miracles in fear of scrutiny and bigotry from the heinous Judge Claude Frollo.
