"Ticket Chase" is a comic based on Zootopia. It is featured in the graphic novel Disney Zootopia: Family Night. The story takes place in Nick Wilde's childhood.

Plot[]

Nick Wilde sees a poster for the "Hottest band in Zootopia", who will be performing at the Zootopia Arena for one night only. He wishes to go to the concert and take his best friend, but he doesn't have any money or an allowance. He empties his pockets and wonders how he can turn two buttons, a couple of tissues, some gum, and an orange marker into concert tickets. He ponders his situation, and smirks when he comes up with an idea.

Some time later, Nick, using the various items and a carrot, puts on a puppet show behind a park bench, called "The Adventures of Carrot Boy". The show is about a carrot-themed superhero that saves a bunny. He charges a quarter for each kid to see his act. The children are entertained by his act and Nick collects the money after the show. A young beaver compliments Nick on his performance and asks if he can have the bunny puppet. Nick agrees, but charges him for it.

Soon after, Nick notices a young raccoon riding roller skates. He approaches him and asks how the skates are working out for him. The raccoon says they pinch, they're hard to balance on, and for some reason, he wants to eat them. Nick buys the skates and sells them to a young tiger for his bike that has flat tires. Nick gets new tires for the bike and goes to a local skatepark. There, he sees a young polar bear crash his bike attempting a trick. Nick tells the kid he's a great rider, but his bike is holding him back. The fox then suggests the bear purchase Nick's fixed up bike, which he claims is a famous racing bike. Nick then sells the bear's bike to a bike shop and collects his money.

Nick goes to the ticket booth at the Zootopia Arena, only to be informed that the event is sold out, and the only way to get in is if you're a VIM, "Very Important Mammal". Nick attends a baseball game and catches a foul ball, which he gets autographed by one of the players. He returns to the ticket booth, to which the attendant reminds him that he can't buy any more tickets for the concert. The young fox offers the autographed baseball to the attendant in exchange for VIM tickets.

Just then, Nick's best friend arrives, who is revealed to be his mother. Nick tells her he got VIM tickets, which he says stands for "Very Important Mom". The mother, grateful, hugs her son and tells him he rocks. The rock concert begins and Nick's mom is fangirling for the band, Warren. Nick declares that all of his work was definitely worth it. His mother continues shrieking for the band as Nick plugs his ears.

Goof[]

Contrary to Nick referring to his marker as orange, it is actually blue.
