Predators would spend their time hunting prey to survive, and prey would spend their time running and hiding from predators.[1]
Predators and prey evolved from these savage ways and joined together to live in harmony.[2]
The Stone Age[]
The most recent known time period in which animals would revert to a feral state and "go savage" through inherently natural or biological means, according to Chief Bogo.[3]
At 9 years old,[7]Judy Hopps performs in the Carrot Days Talent Show, where she expresses her desire to be a police officer. She is later bullied for this by Gideon Grey, which further fuels her ambition.
Judy and Nick consult Renato Manchas for insight regarding Otterton.
Manchas recalls Otterton yelling about "night howlers" before he went savage. Manchas suddenly goes savage himself and chases Judy and Nick before going missing.
Judy speaks at a press conference, where she repeats what she heard Dr. Madge say - predators may be reverting to their primitive, savage ways. This causes a city-wide divide between predators and prey as various predators continue to go savage.
Mayor Bellwether and Chief Bogo ask Judy to be the public face of the ZPD. Judy declines and quits the force, returning to Bunnyburrow.
Judy learns that "night howlers" are flowers that can make animals go savage, and returns to Zootopia to solve the savage phenomenon.
Judy and Nick uncover Bellwether's prey supremacy plot, in which she has hired Doug Ramses to shoot predators with night howler serum to cause widespread fear of predators.
Judy learns from Gary that there are more to snakes than Zootopia understands.
Judy, Nick, and Gary flee the gala together.
