Hello, my fellow Zootopians! Prepare to get Z.A.P.ped! It's time for this week's edition of the Zootopia Appreciation Post, or Z.A.P. for short. Every Saturday, I'm gonna be posting a different Zootopia-related topic that we can all discuss.
For today's topic, I would like to talk about Ilana.
This post is for eleven weeks ago.
In Case 11: Groundhog Daze, after talking to Marie, Judy and Nick, who was hiding from Marie, talk to Ilana about why was she at Phil's pawn shop. Sarcastically, Ilana tells them she was looking to buy/pawn something and dismisses it as a dumb question. Nick, annoyed by her unfriendliness, wishes he was talking to Detective Oates instead.
Later, near the counter of the pawn shop, Judy and Nick find some stained paper. After wiping it off, it's revealed to be guitar music for a song called "Lament of a Broken Temp". Judy finds it catchy but can't read sheet music, so they send it to Officer Clawhauser in the lab to analyze. Clawhauser tells them that the sheet totally rocks. Nick realizes that Ilana is a temp and the song is about a temp. Judy asks Ilana if the sheet is hers, and Ilana sassily says "What if it is?". She says the only upside of being a broke temp is it gives her lots of depressing material to write songs about. She also says it's better than writing songs about her interest in antique coins and her bad allergies, because no one wants to hear those. Nick says they're very interested.
With the pieces fallen into place, the suspect has short fur, short, bad allergies, an interest in antique coins, and plays guitar, Judy and Nick arrest Ilana for the repeated robberies of Phil's pawn shop. Ilana admits that she knew she did it once too much. She says that when she found out that Phil is afraid of his own shadow, she bought a black bodysuit and made sure he saw his "shadow" several times a day. When he got scared and fainted, Ilana robbed the store. Ilana asks how else was she supposed to sustain her antique coin hobby other than a job. Nick knows that would be scary.
So, what do you guys think? Sound off in the comments below!
