Hello, my fellow Zootopians! Prepare to get Z.A.P.ped! It's time for this week's edition of the Zootopia Appreciation Post, or Z.A.P. for short. Every Saturday, I'm gonna be posting a different Zootopia-related topic that we can all discuss.

For today's topic, I would like to talk about Officer Brie.

OB Art

This is last week's post.

One of the characters that was cut from the film was a mouse named Officer Brie.

Early in development of the film, Officer Brie was going to be a supporting character. However, she was cut after Judy Hopps replaced Nick Wilde as the protagonist, because the filmmakers wanted Judy to be the smallest officer on the force.

Now, comes the obligatory " What if?". What if Nick was the protagonist as originally planned? Would Judy have had a less important role in the story? Or worse, could she have been excluded completely?! I doubt that last part, because the official art book showed test designs of Judy, so she would have been used in some capacity.

Officer Brie's personality is described as tough and sassy. Personally, I would have liked to have seen her in the film, even if she only appeared in like, two or three scenes. Maybe they could have had her as a partner for Judy during her meter maid duties. Someone else, who felt underutilized, because of their small size. I imagine a scene like the one in the film, except Judy is feeling down and Officer Brie would convince Judy that even though she was assigned to a small job, that she could still be great at it. Then it would play out how it did, but with Officer Brie encouraging and cheering her on.

So, what do you guys think? Sound off in the comments below!
