Zootopia 2 is an upcoming American 3D computer-animated adventure-comedy film produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Pictures. It serves as a sequel to Zootopia. It is set to release in theaters on November 26, 2025.
Synopsis[]
Judy and Nick find themselves on the twisting trail of a mysterious reptile who arrives in Zootopia and turns the mammal metropolis upside down. To crack the case, Judy and Nick must go undercover to unexpected new parts of town, where their growing partnership is tested like never before.
Production[]
On February 8, 2023, during the Q1 earnings call, Bob Iger confirmed that a sequel to Zootopia is in development.[1] On February 7, 2024, during the Q1 earnings call, Bob Iger said that Zootopia 2 is set for release in theaters on November 26, 2025.[2][3]
On May 23, 2023, it was announced that neither Byron Howard nor Rich Moore would be involved with the film, and that directorial duties would be taken over by Jared Bush, who co-directed the first film. Bush would also be confirmed as the film's writer. Josie Trinidad, who served as Head of Story on the original film, was confirmed as co-director. [4]
On September 20, 2024, despite what was said earlier, Jared Bush announced that Howard would be joining him as director. [5]
On November 8, 2024, Shakira announced via video at D23 Brazil that Gazelle is returning to Zootopia 2.[6]
